STD Test Window Periods: When Is It Too Early to Test?
An STD test window period is the wait between exposure and when a test can reliably detect an infection. Test too early and you can get a false negative. Chlamydia and gonorrhea show up in about 1 to 2 weeks, HIV in around 18 to 45 days, and syphilis in about 3 to 6 weeks.
